Technical Instructor Crossover

Crossing Over To RAID

Crossing Over To RAID

If you’re already teaching decompression, trimix, CCR, or extended-range courses and you’re looking at RAID, this page explains how the technical instructor crossover actually works with RAID UK.

  • No shortcuts.
  • No box-ticking.

And no pretending that technical instruction can be treated like a basic rec crossover.

Crossing Over To RAID

Who This Crossover Is for

Who This Crossover Is for

This route is for instructors who are already teaching in a variety of technical environments and different equipment configurations, including:

  • Decompression and extended-range diving
  • Normoxic or hypoxic trimix
  • CCR and advanced CCR pathways
  • Advanced gas planning and staged decompression

If you’re supervising dives where mistakes matter, you’re in the right place.

What TECHNICAL Instructor Crossovers Looks Like

What TECHNICAL Instructor Crossovers Looks Like

While every technical instructor is different, most crossovers include:

  • Online academic induction and standards familiarisation
  • Technical standards discussion
  • Confined-water or dry evaluations where appropriate
  • Open-water technical evaluation dives
  • Clear sign-off on authorised teaching levels

Nothing is hidden. Nothing is vague. You’ll know exactly where you stand.

Requirements (No Surprises)

Requirements (No Surprises)

You’ll need to:

  • Hold a recognised technical instructor rating
  • Be an active instructor or recently active instructors with no open QA’s
  • Hold current First Aid / CPR / Oxygen Provider certification
  • Provide teaching and diving experience evidence
  • Meet RAID medical requirements
  • Be affiliated to a RAID dive centre

If you’ve been inactive or operating outside a standard structure, that doesn’t automatically block you, it just means the evaluation may be a little more involved.

WHY Technical Instructors Choose RAID

WHY Technical Instructors Choose RAID

The feedback is usually the same:

  • Clear technical standards without politics
  • No pressure to rush students through courses
  • Strong separation between recreational and technical limits
  • Digital systems that reduce admin noise
  • A training structure that respects experience

In short: fewer grey areas, more clarity.

WHEN YOU ARE READY TAKE THE NEXT STEP

This page isn’t here to push you into anything. It’s here to remove the noise so you can:

  • Understand how RAID handles technical instruction
  • See how your existing ratings fit
  • Decide when it makes sense to move forward

When you’re ready, the next step is clear, and handled properly.
